After an earthquake struck the town of Cianjur that left most of the buildings in ruin, there was an urgency to construct an immediate public facility. This led us to design a knock-down structure that can be constructed and deconstructed quickly and easily. The simple layout and massing allow the building to be expanded by using the same module. The structure also takes note of the tropical and wet climate by building it on stilts to keep the building dry and respond to the site contour.
The gable roof allows hot air to pushed out through the skylight while still allowing light to pass through. The polycarbonate walls also allows light to pass through and blurring the space with the outdoors.
